Welcome to the very first issue of our magazine – The Common Thread.
For a long time I kept thinking I needed to wait — wait until I knew more, made more, or had everything perfectly organized. But the truth is this magazine exists for the same reason I dye fabric: to share the process while it is happening, not after it is finished.
This first edition is a beginning. Inside you’ll find pieces of my natural dye practice, stories from dyeing in Mexico, and the garments that come from working with natural textiles. You’ll see how plants become color, how color becomes cloth, and how cloth eventually becomes something we actually live our lives in.
Natural dyeing slowed me down in the best possible way. It changed how I look at clothing, how I sew, and even how I choose what to keep. A garment is no longer just a project — it becomes a record of time, weather, materials, and attention. This magazine is meant to hold those same kinds of stories.
