Some color is dyed.
Some color is grown.
In this beginner class we will use leaves, flowers, and plant materials to print directly onto cloth using heat and natural tannins. You’ll learn why certain plants leave marks, why others don’t, and how fabric preparation changes everything.
We will cover:
• choosing the right fabrics (and why natural fibers matter)
• how to prepare cloth so prints actually appear
• safe mordants and simple bundles
• layering plants for clear prints instead of brown smudges
• steaming and revealing your finished cloth
No experience is needed. You don’t need to know how to sew, and you don’t need to have dyed fabric before. Just need a desire to watch magic happen.
You’ll leave with your own printed textiles, but more importantly you’ll understand the process — so you can walk outside, gather plants, and do it again at home.
This class is slow, hands-on, and a little bit magical. Each piece comes out differently. That is not a mistake — that is the whole point.
